Sydney Headlight Restoration & Protection FAQs

Do you come to me?

Yes, we are a fully equipped mobile detailing service serving the Macarthur area, including the City of Campbelltown, Camden Council and the Wollondilly Shire.

Why have my headlights gone cloudy or yellowed?

Harmful UV rays, contaminants and road grime are set to harm the protective coating on your headlights as soon as they leave the factory. This happens to all modern auto vehicles, commonly seen around the 5-year mark.

Is the damage inside or outside of the lens?

In a large majority of cases, damage occurs on the outer plastic of the lens meaning that the restoration process can proceed without the need to replace the headlight. However, in a small number of cases, the dust caps might not have been fitted to the back of the headlights correctly, when changing the bulb or even worse the headlight housing has been broken down by its environment or been tampered with.

How long do the results last?

Regular maintenance is key to preventing future oxidisation, and how long the results last is up to you. Our coating is rated to last 12 months, however, we also offer a 5-year headlight film at an additional fee.

Is there a more permanent solution?

Every service has a reasonable life expectancy, even with the most durable protection applied at the factory headlights still oxidise due to regular exposure to the elements after 5 years.

My headlights are terrible! Can you fix them?

We certainly can! We have restored many heavily oxidised headlights thought to be too far gone. If you have doubts, we can do a free assessment online. Use the contact form below to find out how!

Are Clouded Headlights Illegal?

In New South Wales, headlights that are oxidised but remain white are acceptable as well as slight yellowing. However, heavy oxidisation limits nighttime visibility and safety, if noticed can result in a fine being issued.
